Harold Drake, a resident of San Carlos, CA, was born September 3, 1938 in Modesto, CA and went missing July 8, 2015 from a hike in rugged terrain at Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park, Big Sur, CA. He

grew up we of Turlock, CA, and graduated from Central Elementary School, Turlock High School, Modesto Junior College, and San Jose State College. He was a high school math professor until he retired, teaching at Willows High School, San Carlos High School, and Menlo Atherton High School. Many students ts were helped in their understanding of math through his teaching style.

Harold had a life-long interest in photography, starting with a Brownie Box camera as a preteen, having his own darkroom— developing and printing pictures as a teen, and taking pictures of all the beautiful places in the world he visited, and showing slide shows to family, friends and organization . His interest in hiking filled his life with beauty and adventure. He started as a youth in the Sierra Nevada Mountains, and went on to hike the Pacific Crest Trail, the Appalachian Trail, the Tahoe Rim rail and many more places in the US and Europe. He enjoyed the many beautiful local trails and he helped maintain a trail in San Carlos. Harold’s knowledge of and interest in classical music -from light to organ fugues- he loved it all-is amazing. His collection of CDs and Vinyls is huge. Harold was member of Trinity Presbyterian Church where he was active in a bible study. He has many friend there. He was also a member of the Sierra Club and other environmental groups. He kept up wit friends from his various interests. Harold was very generous and supported many causes to help thos less fortunate. He enjoyed reading and watching old movies. He also was dedicated to his family of sisters, nieces and nephews, and grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

Harold is very much missed by his family and friends. He has lost his parents, Loris and Elsie Drake and t o nephews, Steven Kessler and Todd Kessler. He has five grieving sisters:

Roberta (LeRoy) Kessler, Turlock CA; Kathryn (Walt) Anderegg, Ripon, CA; Eileen Allen (Mark);

McMinnvill ,OR; Margaret Strout, McMinnville,OR; Carol (Ken) Gallagher, McMinnville,OR, and

many loving nieces and nephews and cousins.

A “ Celebration of Life” service will be held at Trinity Presbyterian Church in San Carlos, CA on Sunday, October 18, 2015 at 1 pm. The church is located on the corner of Brittan and Alameda de

las Pulgas, an Carlos, CA. In lieu of flowers, you may donate to the Salvation Army, or to the Trinity Presbyterian Church. The mystery of his disappearance is very difficult, but we believe that wherever is, he is with the Lord. We want to join family and friends to celebrate his remarkable life.
