Services for Harold Seder, 82, of Turlock are scheduled for 1 p.m. on Friday at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery, 32043 W. McCabe Rd., in Gustine.
Harold was born in Turlock to Martin and Esther Seder and he lived all his life in Turlock. He attended Turlock Elementary Schools, graduating from Turlock High School with the class of 1944. He left Turlock High before graduating and joined the Navy, as many of his boyhood friends did. He received his graduation certificate through the Operation Recognition in Gratitude for those who had left school early to serve their country. He served three years as gunner on Battle Cruiser U.S.S. Guam CB2, serving in the South Pacific War Zone and received two battle stars.
Harold was a born truck driver, spending 30 of his 50 years total driving time with J.S. West Milling Company in Modesto. He was also an avid reader, bowler, R.V. and international traveler. He and his wife, Cathy, had many activities in common during their 46 years of marriage. He will be sadly missed; he was a member of Turlock Rex Ish Post #88, serving two terms as commander and holding other positions for many years.
Harold is survived by his wife, Catherine “Cathy” Seder of Turlock; son, Loren Seder of Squaw Valley; sister, Karen James of Modesto; two grandsons; five great grandchildren; two step grandchildren; and one step great grandchild. He is preceded in death by his step-daughter, Karen McMurray; and parents, Martin and Esther Seder.
