Hazel Gonsalves Bloom, a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, was born in October of 1922 to Mary and Manuel Jorge in Turlock, CA. Hazel was raised in Turlock until moving to Tracy, where she graduated from Tracy High School. Family was extremely important to Hazel. She was blessed to love and be loved by two wonderful husbands. She married Edward Gonsalves and together they had three sons. After Ed’s death, several years later, she married her second husband Dale Bloom. After Dale’s death, she was blessed to live with her twin sister Helen Macedo for the remainder of her life.
Hazel had a lifelong career as a bookkeeper with many different businesses - the majority of time was at Souza’s Furniture. She was a lifelong member of Sacred Heart Church, an active member of YLI, and many other organizations. Hazel is survived by her twin sister, Helen Macedo; her sons, Don (Debby) Gonsalves, Dave (Marlene) Gonsalves, and Duane (Mary Ann) Gonsalves; eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Hazel was preceded in death by her first husband, Ed Gonsalves; her second husband, Dale Bloom; and her brothers, Ernie and Al Jorge.
A viewing will be held from 4 to 6 p.m., on Tuesday, October 9th, followed by the Rosary at 6:00 p.m., at Turlock Funeral Home, 425 N. Soderquist Rd., Turlock. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, October 10th, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 1200 Lyons Ave., Turlock, followed by a graveside service at Turlock Memorial Park, 575 N. Soderquist Rd, Turlock. A reception will follow at Turlock Funeral Home.
