Helen Ann Erickson Nelson was born in San Jose CA in 1930. She lived in the Santa Cruz area until grammar school when the family moved to Turlock. She went to Turlock schools, graduating from Turlock high School in 1948. After graduation she worked for her father at Erickson Auto Parts. She met Chuck Nelson through church activities. They were married in 1953 at the home of her parents, Roy and Ethel Erickson. They had two children, David Nelson and Denise Brenda both of Turlock. They opened Nelson's Drapery and window Fashions in 1960 and operated the business until retirement in 2001. She was an active member of the Covenant church her whole life. She enjoyed the company of her grandchildren: Trevor Nelson, Katie Martin, Shelley Dutton, Robin Spycher and Vaughn Brenda. Helen kept up on their lives and offered her perspective of life always in a positive and encouraging way. In her latter years she still enjoyed that same enthusiasm for life with her 4 great-grandchildren with #5 due in September. Helen was an avid Giants fan, enjoyed Lake Tahoe and the beaches of Santa Cruz. Helen had the love and respect of her neighbors and friends that spanned the generations. We will all sincerely miss her presence in our lives. A memorial service will be held at Turlock Funeral Home 425 N. Soderquist Rd. on Thursday, July 28 at 10:00 a.m. Private burial will be held at Turlock Memorial Park.
