Cathie was born in Modesto to Vernon and Helen Wells on May 20, 1950. She was a lifelong resident of Stanislaus County, living in Modesto and later in Turlock. She was a graduate of Modesto High. After starting a family, Cathie attended MJC taking business courses. She worked for Stanislaus County as the evidence clerk of Superior Court from 1980 to 1991. In 1991, she returned to do what she truly loved, being a homemaker, mother and grandmother. Cathie’s home was always open to friends or family who needed help. Her loyalty, honesty and capacity for unconditional love will truly be missed.
She is survived by her husband, Mitchell Brownlee, of Turlock; daughter, Darlene Whitehead of Turlock; son, Lincoln Brownlee of Modesto; brothers, Vernon Wells of Reno, Nev., Michael Wells of Newman and Bill Wells of Stevinson; and grandchildren, Michael, Heather, Mitchell, Hannah, Jackson, Samuel and Bennett.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Monday, May 10 at Allen Mortuary.
