Helen C. Smith, age 97, of Hughson, California passed away Tuesday, June 30, 2015 at Samaritan Village.  She was born November 8, 1917 in Jamestown, Rhode Island to Daniel and Margaret Murray.  She graduated High School from Newport High School in Rhode Island before receiving her Bachelors Degree. She married Irving E. Smith November 9, 1942 in New York City.  She was a Pediatric Nurse for 35 years.  They lived in New York City, Long Island, and San Diego before settling in Hughson twelve years ago.  Helen enjoyed golfing, ballroom dancing, and bridge.

Survivors include three children: Peter (Anita) Smith, John (Connie) Smith, and Betsy Liebu; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and brother Tom Murray.  She is preceded in death by her husband Irving Elton Smith; parents Daniel P. and Margaret Murray; brothers John, Daniel, and Peter; and sisters Anne Buskett, Peggy Frank, Jane Murray, Elizabeth Murray, Grace Ferrill, and Mary Dowling.

A private graveside will be held at St. Marks Parish Cemetery in Jamestown, Rhode Island.
