After celebrating New Year’s Eve, Helen Irene Snider passed away on December 31, 2015 at her daughter, Sharon Marino’s, residence in Rhode Island.  She was 98 years old.  Helen was born in Holyoke, Colorado to Otis and Laura Moss.  She attended school in Colorado and Iowa before moving with her parents to Denair, California in 1936. 

Helen married Thornton Snider on March 5, 1939, and they established their home in Turlock, California where they lived until moving to Henderson, Nevada in 2000.  They spent many of their winters at their beautiful home in Manzanillo, Mexico.

As Helen’s life changed so did her interests.  During her children’s school years, Helen was active in Brownies and the Girl Scouts.  She became president of the PTA and a leader in the Boy Scouts.  She was president of the 20’ Ands Club where she was a charter member.

Helen enjoyed traveling and organizations she joined reflected that.  She was a life member of Bridge Marina Yacht Club.  She belonged to Safari Club International and Shikar-Safari Club.  Her love of travel took her to places all over the world, but Africa was her favorite destination, where she and Thornton visited numerous times.

Helen leaves daughters, Sharon (Ed) Marino of Rhode Island; Carol (Ed) Blumenstein of Turlock;  her son, Lance (Claudia) Snider of Sand Point, Idaho;  five grandchildren and five great grandchildren.  She was pre-deceased by her parents, her brother, Wilson Moss, and her daughter Delinda Snider.  Her husband, Thornton, passed away in 2011.  

A private internment will be held at Turlock Memorial Park.
