(Horace) Dean Sexton

Dean Sexton was born in Turlock, California  September 30, 1940.  After an extended illness,  his life sadly ended on May 2, 2018, also in Turlock. He was 77 years old.  His parents, Ed and Thelma Sexton (Fondy), long time Turlock residents, are both deceased. Dean attended Turlock schools graduating from Turlock High School in 1959,  He completed barber college in 1962 and began a 40 year career as the local barber.  Dean served during the 1960’s as a volunteer for the Turlock Fire Department. He was an outgoing, fun loving guy who never met a stranger.  From baby’s first haircut to the last hurrah, lasting memories were made in Dean’s Barber Shop.  We will all miss him.  He enjoyed deer hunting Crocker Ridge with his brother Bob,  fishing Don Pedro with his buddies, and traveling to San Felipe with his longtime friend, of 47 years, JD.  Dean was also a devoted  follower of  auto racing, especially NASCAR. He is survived by his first wife, Pat (Herring) Sexton, of San Diego, CA.  His son Scott Sexton of Mountain Ranch, CA. and his daughter Jill Ortega of Spring Valley, CA.  Two grandchildren, Rosanne Ward of Temecula, CA  and Alex Torres of San Diego, CA, as well as two great grandsons, Aaron and “JP” Ward of Temecula, CA.  He leaves a sister Corinne Griffith and brother Bob Sexton, plus numerous nieces and nephews. His wife, and true love, Christie Whalen, preceded him in death.  A memorial celebration will be held on Saturday, June 30, 2018 from 12:00-4:00 at the VFW Hall, 1405 E. Linwood, Turlock, CA.
