Irma, 88 of Turlock, died Wednesday March 21, 2012 at Emanuel Medical Center surrounded by her family after complications from surgery.
Irma Commons was born February 15, 1924 in Turlock, CA, the daughter of Harry & Martha Commons. She grew up in Turlock, graduated from THS, class of 1942. Then on September 19, 1942, Irma married her high school sweetheart and love of her life, Joseph Linhares. They would have celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on September 19th of this year.
She enjoyed family vacations to the Bay Area, Hawaii, Lake Tahoe in the snow, Mexican Riviera and gambling in Reno with her sister Faye. Her family was the most important thing in her life. She raised 4 sons on the family dairy farm that she helped run with Joe throughout her whole life. Her favorite time was when she was cooking in her kitchen with her whole family around waiting to eat her great food.
She is survived by her husband, Joe; sons: Gary (Arlene), Mike, James (Mary), David (Sheri); 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren with another one on the way. She is preceded in death by her three sisters: Opal, Faye & Myrtle. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.
Visitation will be held on Monday, March 26, 2012 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Turlock Memorial Park & Funeral Home. Services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 27, 2012 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Turlock, CA. A reception will be held immediately following the services at the Church. A private entombment will be held following the reception.
