Janet Kay Potter, 69, passed away Nov. 23, 2010, with her family by her side at Country Manor in Hughson. She was born Nov. 23, 1941, in Flint, Mich. to the late Leonard and Anne Wharram. She lived in Arizona for five years and moved to Whittier, Calif. at the age of eight where she lived until settling in Turlock in 1975. Janet earned a life teaching credential from Cal Western University in Point Loma, Calif. which began her 30-year teaching career; with 25 of those years spent at Denair Middle School.
She belonged to P.E.O. and was also an active member of First United Methodist Church in Turlock where she sang in the church choir. Her hobbies included reading and traveling, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her grandkids.
She is survived by her husband, Gary Potter of Turlock; children, Kimberly (Christopher) Martin of Hughson and Kristi (Dan) Mills of Turlock; sister, Linda (Dwight) St. Peter of Pismo Beach, Calif.; and grandchildren, Hannah, Noah, Gracie, Kaleigh and Landyn.
Memorial contributions can be made to First United Methodist Church, 1660 Arbor Way, Turlock, CA 95380.

A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 3 at the First United Methodist Church of Turlock.
