Jan was born in Petaluma, CA to Thomas and Santina Hooper in 1941.  She attended Chico State University. Jan married Carl Nash in 1965 and was married for 33 years. Jan was gracious, smart, and had a funny opinion about many things.

Jan was a teacher for 40 years. She had wide scope of teaching experiences, but had a passion for teaching English to second language learners. Generations of students passed through her classroom leaving a lasting legacy. Jan volunteered in many community outreaches. She found much fulfillment in participating in her community. Jan was named Citizen of the year in Hilmar.  She was active in her church.  Her hobbies included gardening, water aerobics, a serious love for chocolate, and genealogy.  After retirement, she enjoyed traveling with her companion, Bill Ruff.

Janice is survived by her two sons: Justin and his wife Jennifer, Jason and his wife Holly, and four grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Carl. 

A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday April 7, 2018 at Hilmar Covenant Church.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in can be made in Jan’s memory to Hilmar Covenant Children’s Center P.O. Box 888 Hilmar, CA 95324.  Please share your memories of Jan at
