Jimmie Johnson was born in 1945 to parents Dempsey and Loretta Johnson.
He served over 20 years in the United States Army; stationed in Germany, Holland, Korea, Vietnam and stateside. During his time in the service, he was a transportation specialist; he attained the rank of Sergeant First Class before retiring in 1986.
He was a member of Fidelitas Lodge #830 and American Scottish Rite Bodies in Germany; also Abou Ben Adhem Temple in Springfield, Mo. and he was a life member of Turlock V.F.W. Post #5059. Jimmie's favorite hobbies were woodworking and gold panning.
 He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Cynthia; daughters, Sonja Johnson and Krista Johnson both of Turlock; brothers, Douglas Johnson of Bowie, Md. and Bruce Johnson of Turlock; sisters, Roseita Piceno of Carson City, Nev., Beverly Pierce and Janet Shores,  both of Modesto.
Jimmie was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Helen Waldo; and brother, Louis Johnson.
A committal service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 27 at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery in Santa Nella, followed by a reception at 12:30 p.m. at Valley Hope Community Church on Hawkeye Avenue in Turlock.
