Jimmie was born in 1945 to his parents, Dempsey and Loretta Johnson. He served for over 20 years in the United States Army, and he was stationed in Germany, Holland, Korea, Vietnam and stateside. He was a transportation specialist during his time in the service, and he attained the rank of Sergeant First Class before retiring in 1986. He was a member of Fidelitas Lodge #830 and American Scottish Rite Bodies in Germany. He was also a member of Abou Ben Adhem Temple in Springfield, Mo., and a life member of Turlock V.F.W. Post #5059. Jimmie’s favorite hobbies were woodworking and gold panning.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Cynthia; daughters, Sonja Johnson and Krista Johnson, both of Turlock; brothers, Douglas Johnson of Bowie, Md. and Bruce Johnson of Turlock; and sisters, Roseita Piceno of Carson City, Nev., Beverly Pierce and Janet Shores, both of Modesto. Jimmie was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Helen Waldo; and brother, Louis Johnson.
A committal service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 27 at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery in Santa Nella. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 28 at Allen Mortuary.
