John Ables, 40, of  Delhi, passed away unexpectedly at this home on Saturday, June 12. John was born in Turlock to Kenneth and Cindy Ables. He spent his life living and working in this area and settled in Delhi with his family. After graduating high school, John joined the Army. During his time in the Army, he was awarded many badges and medals that he took great pride in including the Expeditionary Medal (Operation Just Cause), Combat Infantryman Badge Sharpshooter Badge with Rifle Component Bar, Expert Badge with Grenade Component Bar and more. Aside from his time in the Army, his great love and pride was in his family. He was also an avid Raiders fan, and his team loyalty shined through his Raiders memorabilia. John enjoyed family barbecues and fishing. He was a kind and giving man, a loving father, husband and son.
John is survived by his wife, Alisa Ables of Delhi; children, Deven Ables of Winton, John Ables of Delhi and Shari Ables of Delhi; parents, Cindy Ables of Turlock and Kenneth Ables of Modesto; and siblings, Lisa Ables of Delhi and Scott Ables of Merced.  
A graveside service with military honors will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, June 29 at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery in Gustine.
