John Damiano, 64, passed away peacefully on Dec. 26 in Fresno.  

He was born and raised in Turlock.  He served in the Air Force for six years, working in seismic intelligence in Denver, Sacramento and Spain.  He moved to Madera 33 years ago to begin a career in avionics, which led him to getting his pilot’s license for airplanes and helicopters and opening Transierra Technology, an avionics business at Madera Airport.  

He loved his family, friends, electronics and machines.  He enjoyed travel, amateur radio, photography, scuba diving, and many motorcycle and flying adventures, including competing in motorcycle competitions in Spain and flying doctors to Mexico to work in medical clinics.
John is survived by his wife of 43 years, Anita Damiano of Madera; daughter, Lori Damiano of Portland, Ore.; son, Nick Damiano and his wife, Rocio of Austin, Texas; mother, Marion Damiano and sister, Kathy Tucker, both of Turlock; and brother, Jamie Damiano and his wife, Lura of Fort Bragg.

The Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 4 at Jay Chapel in Madera.  Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 5 at St. Joachim Catholic Church in Madera.  Services conclude at the church.
