John Ralph Humphrey, 57, passed away peacefully in his home Wednesday evening, Dec. 16. Born May 20, 1952, John will be remembered by family and friends for his enormous heart and amazing sense of humor. A lover of all sports, and particularly his Steelers and Cardinals, John was known to enjoy brief but always “eventful” rounds of golf with his friends.
John was employed for 25 plus years with VersaCold Logistics (formerly Merchants Refrigeration) in Modesto, where he started as a forklift-driver
and worked his way up to foreman. He was always the first one to work and the last one to leave, and those tasty lunches his wife made for him every day were definitely missed when he retired in 2008.
John is survived by his wife of 22 years, Roberta Humphrey; father, Harry Humphrey; sons, John Humphrey, Derek Yokley and Tony (Antonio) Hernandez; daughters, Debra Stone, Sara Ivey and Lisa Flores; brothers, Ted and Dennis Dobson; sisters, Sharon Peterson and Kimberley Stowell; aunt, Donna Metzger; and nine wonderful grandchildren that meant the world to him. He will be missed, but never forgotten.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 22 at Allen Mortuary in Turlock. The family wishes to express their thanks for the nice
thoughts and prayers they have received.
