John Spier, 65, of Turlock, passed away in Modesto. He was born in Riverside.
John was a communications technician for Pacific Bell for 30 years and for the Turlock Unified School District for 10 years. He was a member of Telephone Pioneers of America and Communications Workers of America. John enjoyed woodworking, fly fishing, hiking, camping and spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Suzanne Spier of Turlock; sons, Shanendoah Spier of Antioch, Tenn. and Bob Bronken and his wife, Brett, of Turlock; daughters, Shawnessy Payne and her husband, Scotty, of Ceres, Sharendel Flores of Modesto and Stacey Bronken and her husband, Joey, of Turlock; brother, Danny Spier and his wife, Mary, of Oakdale; and 11 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Jewel Spier; and sister, Billie Ruth Smith.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 12 at Friendly Village Club House, 2621 Prescott Rd., Modesto.
