Jose Silveira Dias
May 5, 1961 – Sep 15, 2019

Jose “Joe” went to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 15, 2019. He was 58 years old. Joe was born on May 5, 1961 in Rosais of Sao Jorge, Azores to Manuel and Flor Dias. He immigrated to the United States when he was 8 years old, where his family settled in Turlock, CA to raise him. He attended Chatom School and Turlock High School. Before working for his father in law as the Electrical Shop Manager at Patrias Electric, Joe hauled hay for Alvin Breschaini, drove fuel trucks for Manuel Moniz, and Joe Gomes and Sons. He also worked for Clark Pest Control. Joe spent as much time as he could helping at his family’s dairy (3M Dairy) in Merced along with his son, Jackson, nephews and brother in law.

Above all, Joe was a family man. He married the love of his life, Kristy Patrias on January 30, 1998 in Modesto, CA after dating for almost 10 years. Joe and Kristy loved spending time together at San Francisco 49er games and watching movies together at home. His priority was spending time with his kids, watching them play sports and helping them show dairy cattle at the Stanislaus County Fair. Joe was very proud of his wife and children and all of their accomplishments.

Joe was very active in the Portuguese Community, helping with multiple festas, and displaying ox carts with bulls in Bode Leite  Parades.  Joe enjoyed collecting 49er memorabilia, fishing, branding cows, and making homemade wine.

Joe leaves behind his loving wife, Kristy, his three children: Daryl Hailey Dias (21), Jackson Manuel Dias (18), and Alexis Reagan Dias (13) all of Denair, CA. He is preceded in death by his father, Manuel Dias, nephew Manuel Machado, and niece Brandy Gomes.

A visitation will be held at 1 p.m., followed by the Rosary and Funeral Service at 2p.m., on Tuesday, September 24, 2019 at Turlock Funeral Home, 425 N. Soderquist Rd., Turlock. Following the service, Joe will be laid to rest at Turlock Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Joe Dias Memorial Fund in the care of Mechanics Bank, 2190 W. Monte Vista Ave., Turlock, CA 95382. All proceeds will go to support his children.
