Joe was born in Newman, CA to Joseph and Mary Lopes and passed away at the age of 71.  He attended Canal Grammar School in Newman, Keyes Elementary School and graduated from Turlock High School in 1963.  After graduating high school he moved to San Leandro and became a union carpenter, which was his occupation for many years.  Joe was a lifetime Raiders fan, enjoyed drag racing, fishing and duck hunting.  He was proud to donate to St. Joseph’s Indian School.  Joe was a loving father and grandfather.

He is survived by his sons Michael Lopes and Joseph “Joey” Lopes; siblings Larry Lopes, Tony (Judy Wisdom) Lopes and Laura Silva and grandson Tyson Lopes.  Joe is preceded in death by his parents and siblings Mary Jane and Louie.
