Jovina Bettencourt, 84, of Hilmar, died Nov. 28 at Emanuel Medical Center. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Dec. 3 at Whitehurst, Norton & Dias Funeral Chapel. A rosary will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 3 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 20263 American Ave. in Hilmar. A mass is scheduled for 10 a.m. on Dec. 4 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Burial will be at Hills Ferry Cemetery District.
Jovina was born June 17, 1925 in Norte Grande, Calheto, Sao Jorge, Azores. She was a homemaker for 35 years and a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church of Hilmar. She enjoyed cleaning houses and getting together with her family.
She is survived by her husband, Germano Matos Bettencourt; son, Vasco Bettencourt and his wife, Rosemary, of Hilmar; grandchildren, Danny Bettencourt of Tracy, Christina Bettencourt of Hilmar and Melissa Bettencourt of Phoenix, Ariz.; and two great grandchildren, Evan Bettencourt and Layla Bettencourt, both of Tracy.
