Juan Carlos Mata died unexpectedly on July 30, 2019 at the age of 42. He was born in Jacona, Michoacán, México on February 21, 1977. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Catalina Reyes Guzman and Antonio Reyes Flores as well as his paternal grandparents, Ma. Isabel Garibay Mata and Salvador Mata Ballesteros.
He was considered “the glue of the family” and is lovingly remembered by: his parents José C. Mata and Esperanza Reyes Cunha (Joe); his brothers Cuauhtémoc Mata, Hector Mata (Vanessa), Raúl Mata (Monica); his sisters Maria Mejia (Raymundo), Rocio R. Mata (Michael Murphy), Angelica Nuño (Fernando); and his 15 nieces and nephews.
He attended Turlock schools and was a proud graduate of Turlock High School in 1995. He was a sanitation manager at several locations, most recently at Flowers Baking Company of Modesto.
He was a faith-based man who attended Sacred Heart Parish in Turlock every Sunday with his father. He touched many lives and was always willing to help others. Juan Carlos never said “no” to someone in need. He loved spending time with friends and family and lived life to the fullest. He enjoyed combat sports including boxing and wrestling and was an avid fan of the Chicago Bears and San Francisco Giants.
Services will be held on Tuesday, August 6, 2019. Visitation is set from 9am-12pm at Turlock Memorial Park and Funeral Home (425 N Soderquist Rd, Turlock). A rosary and mass will follow at Sacred Heart Catholic Church (1301 Cooper Avenue, Turlock) from 1pm-2:30pm. Burial will follow at Turlock Memorial Park and Funeral Home at 2:45pm.
