June Bruce, 97, of Turlock, passed away peacefully at Paramount Court. June was born in Cherry Grove, OR to George and Edna Bruce. The family moved to Keyes, CA in 1922. June graduated from Turlock High School in 1935, and subsequently completed her Bachelors’ Degree from Linfield College in McMinnville, OR. She then attended Business College to take bookkeeping, shorthand, and typing.

June worked for Modesto Electric Co. for 7 years before she decided to attend Bethel Seminary in St. Paul, MN. After one year in seminary, June was invited to work at the Baptist General Conference World Mission office in Chicago, which she did for 11 years. She spent the next 7 years serving in Ethiopia as secretary to the chief American advisor to the Ministry of Health. In her off hours, she spent time helping BGC missionaries working in that country. June was able to transfer to Kenya for her next posting where she could do the same. After her posting in Kenya, she retired from government service and returned to work for the Baptist General Conference from which she retired in 1988.  She then moved back to Turlock. Always active in her churches, she volunteered at Emanuel Hospital gift shop, sang in church, and was church historian for some years.

June was a lady that remained young at heart. She enjoyed seeing the world, visiting over 60 countries. She even enjoyed having her toenails painted for the seasons. She was well loved and will be fondly remembered.

Memorial gifts for June may be considered for the Calvary Baptist Church of Turlock or for the Converge Worldwide Ministry in Arlington Heights, Illinois. (Formerly known as Baptist General Conference World Missions.)

A Memorial Service will be held on October 17th at 10 am at Calvary Baptist Church in Turlock. Please leave memories and condolences at
