Services for Kankamma Nair, 72, of Modesto, will be held from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., with cremation to follow, Aug. 1 at Allen Mortuary. Kankamma passed away in Modesto surrounded by her family.
She was born in Korociriciri, Nausori, Fiji Islands. She was married to Yakub Nair in 1956. Kankamma moved to Modesto in 1994, and lived here since then. She enjoyed gardening, sewing and cooking. She was the bond that kept the family together.
Kankamma is survived by her sons, Hari Nair, Rajesh Nair and Atish Nair; daughters, Puspha Nair, Ritu Sharma and Rohini (Babbi) Pratap; brothers, Narayan Sami Chetty of Modesto, Raja Chetty, Krishna Chetty and Rattan Chetty; sisters, Sumitra Sami, Saraswati Mani, Thyaramma Goundar and Munilatchmi Prasad; and 10 grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Yakub Nair; daughter, Kamala Prasad; brothers, Madan Chetty and Govind Chetty; and sister, Janki Singh.
