Funeral services for Karen Gregory, 67, of Turlock are scheduled for 10 a.m Tuesday at Turlock Funeral Home Chapel, 425 N. Soderquist Rd. in Turlock. Burial will follow at Turlock Memorial Park.
Born April 19, 1942, to parents Vincent and Signa Youngquist, Karen was born and raised in Turlock. She graduated from Turlock High School Class of 1960, Modesto Junior College and received her BA and teaching degree from Fresno State.
Karen loved her profession. She taught physical education at La Loma Jr. High and Grace Davis High School, both in the Modesto School District.
She was a lifeguard and gave swimming lessons at the Columbia Pool during the 1950s.
On Aug. 17, 1963, Karen married Douglas Gregory. Their marriage was until “death do us part.” Doug and Karen were blessed with two children, Michelle Lynn Gutierrez and Niles Douglas Gregory, both of Modesto and three grandchildren, David Douglas Gutierrez, Katelyn Ottilia Gutierrez and Chase Vincent Gregory. Karen’s life was centered around her grandchildren. She also loved her two sisters, Linda Vincent of Stockton and Jonette Tornquist of Turlock.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hospice of Emanuel, 825 Delbon Ave., Turlock, CA 95380.
