Katherine Tarone, 90, passed away at her home in Capitola. She was born to Albert and Clara Coker in Stevinson and grew up in Stevinson, where her mother, “Trixie,” served as the postmistress. She graduated from Hilmar High School and married Natale Tarone in 1931. She kept their home while her husband went off to serve in World War II. She worked for 18 years as a ticket agent for the local Greyhound Bus depot. She also managed apartments both here and in the Santa Cruz area. Katherine was active in church activities throughout her life. Her husband passed away in 1984, after 53 years of marriage.
Katherine was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and a son, Steven. She is survived by her sons, Robert (Lynn) Tarone of Jamestown and David Tarone of Denair; and granddaughter, Brandi Tarone.  
A recitation of the Rosary for Katherine will be held at 7 p.m. on Friday, March 18 at Allen Mortuary. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 9 a.m. on Saturday, March 19 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 2809 N. Railroad Ave., Stevinson. Burial will follow at Sunnyside Cemetery in Stevinson.
