Kenneth Wayne Pittser
Nov 3, 1939 – Jul 28, 2018
Kenneth Wayne Pittser

Kenneth Wayne Pittser passed away peacefully on July 28, 2018 at Memorial Medical Center in Modesto, CA. He was surrounded by his loved ones.

Kenneth was born on November 3, 1939 in Modesto, CA to Ernest Pittser and Doris “Helen” Girdner (Greene). He spent his childhood growing up in the Delhi and Los Angeles areas, graduating from Venice High School in 1958. After high school, Kenneth went on to service honorably in the US Air Force until he was discharged on February 29, 1964. While stationed at Castle Air-Force Base in Merced, CA, he met his wife, Marjorie “Ellen” Banks. They were married on March 31, 1963 in Reno, NV.

Kenneth’s first dream was to be a doctor and he started working in the cafeteria of a hospital. He soon took the construction route, however, and lived out his career as a glazier until his retirement in 2005.

Throughout his life, Kenneth found joy in working with his hands. His hobbies included wood-working, leather craftsman, painting, stained glass, photography, computers, gardening and succeeded in obtaining his private pilots license. He could master anything he put his mind to, even at the end, when he picked up wood-working again and hand-built the urns for his and his wife’s ashes.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Doris Pittser; his son, Keith Warren Pittser; and his beloved wife, Marjorie “Ellen” Pittser. He is survived by his daughter, Kim Swift (Pittser); son, Klint Pittser; brother, Roger Girdner; grandchildren, Steven Pittser, Ashley Olesen, Darren “Jade” Harder, Adam Volk-Pittser, Jessica Pittser, Elle Pittser and Kailynn Pittser; as well as his great-grandchildren, Chloe Olesen and soon-to-be, Madison Olesen.

A Memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, August 3, at Turlock Funeral Home, 425 N. Soderquist Rd., Turlock, CA 95380.

The family asks that memorial donations be made to Meals on Wheels America at www.mealsonwheelsamerica.org/take-action/give or to any other organization that helps the elderly community.
