Jay-Jay was born at Merritt Hospital in Oakland to Etta and Robert Brown. He attended school in Oakland and graduated from Mack High before moving to Turlock.

He was a role model to many young boys he coached. He will be missed tremendously. The Turlock Vikings are even more determined to win the superbowl in all divisions as a tribute to coach Jay-Jay.
He is survived by his fiancé, Nicole; and his daughters, Neyonce, 3, and Beautiful, 2. He is also survived by his chosen family, mother-in-law Tammie; aunt, Della; and cousins, Chalamar, Monique, Mario, Lorenzo and Tony.
