Larry Arvice Biscamp, 63, of Berkeley, passed away April 2010. He was born in San Augustine, Texas in April 1946.
Larry is survived by his loving mother, Lorraine Lindsay; sons, Robert (Aimee) and Brenden; grandson, Louis; brother, Frank; sisters, Doris and Lois; nieces, Donna and Nicole; and great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Dillard Biscamp; and his stepfather, Richard Lindsay.
At three years old he was paralyzed in a car accident, but Larry did not let this slow him down. He found many ways to live life to the fullest. He was a family man, an outdoorsman, a counselor and a friend to all. He was also a proponent of rights for the disabled. He was a co-founder of California Center for Independent Living. This group helped lead the way for accessibility for the disabled throughout our nation.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, April 30 at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Fresno, Calif. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of Emanuel, 825 Delbon Ave., Turlock, CA 95382 or a charity of your choice.
