Leonard Tornell, 88, was born in Turlock to Andrew and Signe Tornell.  He died Wednesday in Turlock.

He graduated from Turlock High School in 1941, attended MJC, and entered the U. S. Navy in 1943.  In 1944 he married the former Louise Young and after his discharge they moved to the Bay Area, and later to Redwood City. 

Leonard spent 25 years with Pacific Telephone, and after his retirement he returned to Turlock in 1987.  He was a “die hard” ‘49er fan and a member of Turlock Exchange Club.

Leonard is survived by his wife, Louise; son, Thomas Tornell; and daughter, Jennie Ringelman.  He also leaves one grandson.

Memorial services were held at Turlock Funeral Home.  Private interment will take place at Turlock Memorial Park.
