Leontina Sousa passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 28, 2017, surrounded by family at Memorial Medical Center of Modesto.  She was born September 10, 1933 to Antonio Ferreira and Rosa Da Silva in Sao Joao, Pico, Azores.  She worked alongside her husband building their dairy in Turlock for 23 years and prided herself in raising all baby calves.  She had such a love for the dairy life that she continued raising calves to the age of 75.   

She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Joe Sousa and is survived by her 3 loving children; daughter Maria Faria (Carlos) of Turlock; daughter Leonette Andre (Manuel) of Hilmar; son, Joey Sousa, Jr. (Janiece) of Turlock; 4 treasured granddaughters Kristy and Jamie Faria, Jordan and Jadyn Sousa; adored by her great granddaughter Madison Kimoto and adoring sister Maria Gomes of Turlock. 

She was a proud member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Our Lady of Fatima of Turlock, Our Lady of Miracles of Gustine, and was past president of the Turlock Pentecost Association.  She enjoyed spending time with family, traveling, gardening and doing her word searches.  She was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, godmother, aunt and friend to many.  She was an amazing woman with many talents who never hesitated to help anyone.  She truly had a heart of gold and will forever be in our hearts.  

Services:  Visitation will be from 2 to 7 pm, Thursday, February 9, 2017 with a vigil and Recitation of the Rosary at 7 pm at Whitehurst, Norton and Dias Funeral Service, 286 West Main Street, Turlock.

A funeral mass will be held at 11 am on Friday, February 10, 2017 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 1200 Lyons Ave., Turlock.  Mrs. Sousa will be laid to rest at Turlock Memorial Park, 575 N. Soderquist Rd., Turlock.
