Leroy Frye, 46, of Turlock, passed away on Thursday. He was born in Sunnyside, Wash. to Melvin J. Frye, Sr. and Deana J. Frye. When he was 1 year old the family moved to Anderson, Calif., and then moved to Happy Valley when he was 11. As a teen Leroy responded to a challenge to learn auto mechanics. By getting a van running he was rewarded by his parents and was able to keep that van. That was the beginning of a career of driving and repairing trucks, especially diesel trucks. Through the years he received further training and certification as a master mechanic at Bonander Truck, Peterbilt Trucks and other area shops. Leroy also loved to ride his Harley.
Leroy is survived by his mother, Deana Frye of Anderson; and siblings, William Lester Thurston III (aka Billy) of Anderson, Sherlina D. Ahrenholtz (aka Dolly) of Modesto, Renae Jo Frye of Turlock, Melvina Joy Bushey of Anderson, Gregory Dean Frye of Modesto, Melvin Joseph Frye, Jr. (aka Jay) of Portland, Ore. and Sherry Frye of Anderson. He was preceded in death by his father, Melvin J. Frye, Sr.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 4 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 4 at Allen Mortuary. Please leave memories and condolences at www.allenmortuary.com.
