Leslie Johnson, 93, of Turlock died peacefully at home with devoted family by his side. Leslie was born in Newman Grove, Neb. to the late Oscar and Fairy Johnson. He graduated from Newman Grove High School and worked on the family farm before moving to Turlock. Leslie worked in various farming positions until his enlistment in the U.S. Army in 1942. He served as a sergeant in four campaigns in the Pacific during World War II until his return in 1945. Upon returning to Turlock, he worked for Hartvickson’s Poultry Transportation and then met the love of his life, Pauline Grubb. They married on Aug. 8, 1947, sharing 63 years together and two wonderful children, Jennifer and Jeffrey.

Leslie was a loving, devoted husband, brother, father and grandfather who took pride in all of his family. He was an active member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, serving in many capacities of the church community.

Leslie was predeceased by brothers, Harlan, Floyd, Virgil and Noah; and sisters, Irene, Norma and Leona. He is survived by his loving wife, Pauline; children, Jennifer (Ferry) of Turlock and Jeffrey and his wife, Ellen of New Jersey; grandchildren, Ryan Ferry and his wife, Raquel and Erin and Katie Johnson. He will also be missed by many other family members and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Jan. 8 in the Chapel of the Flowers Mausoleum at Turlock Memorial Park with a private family graveside service to follow.
