Lillian D. Jerome of Turlock passed away on Saturday, October 10, 2015.  She was born in Hughson, California, on November 24, 1921, and lived in Turlock for more than 80 years.  She graduated from Turlock High School in 1939.  Lillian worked at JC Penney in Turlock for nearly 30 years, and after her retirement, volunteered at the Emanuel Medical Center gift shop for more than 20 years.  She was a lifelong member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Lillian was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Maria Silva; her husband of 60 years, Lewis Jerome; her brother, Ernest Silva; and her sister, Lenore Jerome.  She is survived by daughter, Linda Jerome of San Francisco and her son, Robert Jerome of New York City, as well as many nieces, nephews and godchildren.  She was affectionately known by neighborhood children as “Grandma Lill”.  

Lillian was an expert seamstress and quilter, and her beautiful quilts decorate the homes of many of her friends and relatives.  Known for her sense of humor and quick wit, she will be missed by all who knew her. 

A visitation will be held Sunday, October 18, 2015 from 10am - 5pm at Allen Mortuary in Turlock.  The funeral service will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Monday, October 19, 2015 at 11am with interment to follow in Turlock Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, Lillian requested that memorial contributions be made to the Turlock Historical Society, 108 South Center Street, Turlock, California 95380.
