Lincoln Esau, 92, of Denair, passed away at Alexander Cohen Hospice House. Lincoln was born in Aberdeen, Idaho to Henry and Mary (Unruh) Esau. The family moved to Kerman, California when Lincoln was 6 months old where he completed his high school education. He has worked in and around agriculture all throughout his life. Lincoln completed an Associate Degree in Agriculture at Pierce Agricultural College. He joined the Air Force in 1943 and served four years on active duty before continuing in the Air Force Reserves until 1971 when he retired from the military as a Major.
During Lincoln’s military career he met a beautiful young red haired girl while she was singing in the church choir. Her name was Reah Flanagin and they were married in 1947. Reah and Lincoln were married 61 years before her death in 2008. They remained active in church work and were strong supporters of missions and Christian education including Christian Encounter Ministries of Grass Valley, California.  They also loved traveling, camping, and “RVing.” Lincoln was an avid fisherman and outdoorsman.
Lincoln was preceded in death by his wife and several siblings. He is survived by three children: Carrie Esau of Denair, Judy Vaccaro of Dillon, Montana, and Mike (Randi) Esau of Denair, nine grandchildren, three great grandchildren, three siblings: May Johnson, Lydia Estes, and Leonard Esau, and nieces and nephews. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
Visitation for Lincoln will be at Allen Mortuary on Friday, Feb. 3rd from 4-6 pm. A Celebration of Life will be held at Calvary Baptist Church, 700 East Monte Vista Avenue, Turlock, on Saturday, Feb. 4th at 11:30 am. Burial will be private.
