Lois Slocum, 91, of Turlock, passed away at Emanuel Medical Center on Saturday. She was born in Akron, Ohio to Fred and Emma Davidson in 1918. Lois attended schools and graduated from high school in Akron before moving to California at the age of 24. She worked in secretarial positions for her church and the Presbyterian denomination for years. The Church and its mission was always very important to Lois and her husband. She married George Slocum in July of 1942 in Los Angeles. She lived in the same house in Los Angeles for about 68 years! Throughout their lives, Lois and George were active in attending and serving their church. Her husband preceded her in death in 1990. She moved to Turlock within the last year and thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren during these last months.
Lois is survived by her two children, Linda Pimentel of Turlock and George D. Slocum of Lake View Terrace; grandchildren, Nicole (Shawn) Cooper of Turlock and Michael Pimentel of Costa Mesa; and great grandchildren, Maci Cooper, Gianna Cooper, Taryn Cooper, Rachel Hubbard and Lilleigh Garner.
Lois will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, and “Nanna.”
In addition to her husband, Lois is predeceased by siblings, Marjorie, Wilbur and Bob.
A memorial service is being planned at Eagle Rock Presbyterian Church in Los Angeles. Memorial contributions may be considered for the Eagle Rock Presbyterian Church, 4848 Eagle Rock Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90041.
