Alfred Lonnie Bennett peacefully passed to his heavenly home surrounded by family and friends at Alexander Cohen Hospice House in Hughson.  He graduated from Livingston High School and Modesto Junior College.  After his schooling, he enjoyed his time in the army where he saw places he never would have seen otherwise.  Lonnie spent most of his working career at Gemperle Enterprises where he retired as the office manager.  

He was an active member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church for several years.  In retirement, you could find him gardening, spending time with his grandchildren, and accompanying his wife to the Turlock Community Theatre and dinner at Applebee’s. 

He was generous with his love and time and was always willing to lend a helping hand.  Lonnie was known by his family and friends to be both serious and silly, they never knew what to expect.  

Lonnie is survived by his wife Marilyn Bennett; daughter Shauna Bennett of Hilmar; siblings Jim (J.E.) Bennett of Hickman, Lennie Worsham of Modesto and Howard Bennett of Phoenix, AZ; grandchildren Andrew Johnson, Taylor Johnson and Hannah Vandewark.  He was preceded in death by his siblings Donald Bennett, Ronald Bennett, Zora Nelson and Shirley Anderson.

The family would like to thank all who assisted in making Lonnie comfortable and those who sent loving and supportive messages. 

Viewing will be held at Allen Mortuary on Friday, September 9, 2016 from 2:00-5:00p.m.  Celebration of life service will also be held at Allen Mortuary on Saturday, September 10, 2016 at 1:00p.m.
