Our beloved mother joined our other angels in heaven, on Friday August 12th at Brandel Manor in Turlock.

She was born and raised in Mississippi. She was a true southern belle. Her southern hospitality was known by everyone who met her.

If you ever had the privilege of meeting her, you loved her. She was very famous for her biscuits and gravy, which warmed many hearts and filled many tummies.

She married the love of her life Lishie Gaylon West in June of 1939. They built a life together living in many places that included Mississippi, Florida, Chicago, Emeryville, Salinas, Newman and Gustine, until his death in 1980.

She is survived by daughters Betty (Bob) Davis of Oregon, Billie (Gary) Adams of Turlock, sons Barry (Kathy) West of Modesto, and Bobby (Doni) West of Denair. Two brothers Slim and Jack Harmon and sister Chris French. 14 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

Lorene is preceded in death by her husband Lishie Gaylon West, her daughter Donna Vieira, granddaughter Holly Shahan  great-grandaughter Joanna Rocha jr., and great-grandson Nate Rocha jr.

She was the most amazing person and mother. Her most important job in life was being a wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to all.

The family would like to thank the staff at Brandel Manor for their special love and care.

Visitation will be Thursday August 18th at Whitehurst – Norton – Dias Funeral Service in Turlock from 4-8 pm. The funeral will be Friday August 19th at 10:00 am with interment to follow at the North Hilmar Cemetery District.

Donations can be made to Lucille Packard Children’s Hospital or Standford University in Lorene’s name.
