Louciel B. Freeman, 89, passed away on Thursday, January 5, 2012, in Turlock. She was born to Antone and Anna Alvernaz of Turlock on April 11, 1922.  She attended Tegner Elementary School and graduated from Turlock High School, class of 1940.
She grew up on the family dairy farm on Harding Road and was at home with the country life.  Her dogs and horses were the love of her life and as a member of the Turlock Horsemens Club often rode in local parades.
Growing up with four older brothers gave her the courage and confidence to meet challenges and accomplished many of her desired goals and activities.  Louciel received her Certificate of Proficiency as an aircraft maintenance mechanic in 1943, and became a licensed pilot.  She was a lifetime member of the Ameila Earhart International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers. She was a gifted artist, an avid bowler, softball player, golfer and loved boating and camping.
Louciel lived in Gustine most of her life and worked for the Carnation Company for over forty years.
Her survivors include three loving sister-in-laws, Be Alvernaz, Harriet Alvernaz and Dolores Alvernaz, all of Turlock.  She also leaves behind two step children, Butch Freeman and Susie Pearson.  Five grandchildren and four great grandchildren, along with eleven nieces and nephews and many great and great-great nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents Antone and Anna Alvernaz.  Also her brothers Manuel, Anthony, Alfred and Edward Alvernaz and two nephews, Raymond Alvernaz Du Clos, and Jerald Alvernaz.
Visitation will be held on Monday, January 9, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Turlock Funeral Home, 425 N. Soderquist Rd. Turlock.  Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at 11:00 am also at Turlock Funeral Home.  Burial will follow at Turlock Memorial Park.
