Lupe Gallegos took every minute of her life and cherished it and lived it fully until her last breath, when the Lord called her home on the morning of March 25, 2026, in Turlock, California, to reunite her with her beloved husband, Manuel.
Born in Anaheim, CA in 1927 to José and Rosario Banales, Lupe was one of ten children. She lived a glorious and vibrant life filled with faith, family, and friends. When she met Manuel Gallegos at an Easter dance in 1950, they fell deeply in love and got married on September 10 of that year. They later moved to Turlock, CA in 1980 to be closer to their grandchildren.
Lupe built a life defined by devotion. She was a devoted daughter and sister, and wife to her late husband, Manuel of 68 years; a proud and loving mother to her only child — Robert; a doting grandmother; and a generous friend to many. There wasn’t a family gathering where she didn’t bring her Spanish rice, potato salad, and if you were lucky, you were invited to her home to share in her delicious chicken mole.
She is survived by her son Robert Gallegos Sr., daughter-in-law Ymelda, and grandchildren Michelle, Robert Jr., and Steven. Lupe was also blessed with nineteen great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren. She was a blessing to all who knew her and will be dearly missed and fondly remembered.
Private services will be held for the immediate family. Burial will be held at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery in Santa Nella, CA.
