Maria Nunes, 86, of Turlock, died Dec. 8 in Turlock. Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 13 and from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 14 at Whitehurst, Norton & Dias Funeral Service, 286 West Main St. in Turlock. A vigil and rosary will be held at 8 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 13 at Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church. A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 14 at Our Lady of Assumption, followed by burial at Turlock Memorial Park.
Maria was born April 24, 1923 in São Tomé, Topo, São Jorge, Azores. She was a homemaker.
She is survived by her sons, Arthur Nunes of Delhi, Joe Nunes of Stevinson, and João Nunes and Pedro Nunes, both of Turlock; daughters, Maria Alice Teixeira, Beatriz Lourenco and Helen Roman, all of Turlock; sisters, Serafina Silva and Beatriz Machado, both of the Azores; brother, Jose Machado of Turlock; 38 grandchildren; and 50 great grandchildren.
