Mary Jensen, 67, of Modesto, passed away at Doctors Medical Center after a long, courageous battle with cancer. Mary was born in Turlock to Fred and Sofie Sigrist, attending local schools and graduating from Turlock High Class of 1964. She attended beauty school in Modesto and was a hair stylist in Turlock for several years where she met her future mother-in-law who played cupid in introducing Mary to her future husband. She married the love of her life Robert Jensen in Reno in 1973 and later had their marriage blessed in the church in 1981. Mary loved gardening and grew beautiful roses at their home in Modesto. Boating and fishing became a favorite pastime for them. Caring for others came very natural for Mary.  With a servant’s heart she tenderly became a caregiver for her mother-in-law and later courageously cared for her husband even when she herself was seriously ill. She was a great wife, mother, and grandmother. She was “like a saint” to her family and friends. Fittingly, her funeral will be on “All Saints Day”.

  Mary was preceded in death by her father Fred Sigrist in June of 2011 and by her husband Robert Jensen in August of 2012. She is survived by her mother Sofie Sigrist of Turlock, daughter Natalie (Edward) Chandler of Lathrop, granddaughter Brittany Brown of Lathrop, sister Louise (Norman) Martin of Ceres, brother Carl Sigrist of Turlock, and several nieces and nephews. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.

  There will be a visitation at Allen Mortuary on Wednesday, Oct. 31st from 4:00 to 6:00 pm. Funeral will be at Allen Mortuary Event Center (located immediately south of the Mortuary) on Thursday, Nov. 1st at 1:00 pm. Burial will follow at Turlock Memorial Park.
