Mary K. Shallenberger-Nacey, age 95, passed away peacefully on December 30, 2021, with her family at her side. She was born in Lincoln, Missouri to Albert and Nancy Baker in 1926. 

She married Charles Shallenberger in 1943. They were married for 52 years. She later was remarried to Edward Nancy, Godfather to John Shallenberger, until Ed’s passing in 2013. 

Longtime resident of Atwater for 61 years, Mary was an independent, self-reliant housewife that loved her home. 

Mary was a Red Cross Volunteer, worked with Family Services at several Air Force Bases, as well as Castle Air Museum. She was also a member of the Atwater Women’s Club. She received a bachelor’s degree in Anthropology from California State University Stanislaus. 

She is survived by her two children, daughter Linda Price of Wichita Falls, TX, and son John Shallenberger, and his wife, Sandy (Sam), of Turlock, CA. 

Family also includes four grandchildren: Charlie Whelan, Claire Kowalick, Lori Anderson, Kelly Oates. As well as 10 great grandchildren: Nicky Whelan, Moira Whelan, Fiona Whelan, Patrick Kowalick, Carter Cowalick, Kambry Anderson, Brialyn Anderson, Kinley Anderson, Bailey Oates, and Levi Oates. 

Graveside services will be held at Winton Cemetery on January 7th, at 11am. Special thanks to Covenant Care Hospice for their caring and prompt help.
