At the age of 89, our beloved mother, Irene Franklin, passed away on Saturday, May 15, 2010. Although a native of Oklahoma, she became a long time resident of the Merced area, living close by those she loved and cherished. She was the heart of the Franklin family, dearly loved by us all, and will be deeply missed.
She is survived by her children, Guy Franklin and his wife, Vivian, Bob Franklin and his wife, Debbie, Rick Franklin and his wife, Helen, Leona Weirich, Joyce Brown and her husband, Joe, and Margaret Franklin; her grandchildren, Lisa Gonzales, Ronnie Hotchkiss, Cynthia Fidel, Steven Weirich, Tommy Smith, Holly Alcorn, Jeremy Franklin, Eva Franklin and Ricky Franklin; 11 great grandchildren, to whom she was known as “G.G.;” and two great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Leon Sylvester Franklin; daughter, Louene; and son, Fred.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 21 at Central Presbyterian Church, 1920 Canal St., Merced. Graveside services will follow at Stevenson Cemetery, Stevenson.
Arrangements are under the direction of Stratford Evans Merced Funeral Home.
