Mava Charlotte Sapp passed away peacefully on Aug. 6. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Mava was born in Oklahoma, moved to Texas, and attended West Texas A&I. She met and married Ray Sapp during WW II while he was on active duty with the Navy, and they settled in Turlock after the war. After early years at home with the children, Mava worked in accounting at Medic Alert and ultimately in the accounting department at CSU Stanislaus. Mava was a faithful and active member of the First United Presbyterian Church, as well as an avid reader, antique glass collector, and tireless volunteer. She loved the Sacramento Kings, and she did not care for the Lakers.
She is survived by her daughter, Marcine (Daniel) Solarez; son, Mark Sapp; daughters-in-law, Nancy Mulholland and Terry Sapp; six favorite grandchildren, Jared Sapp, Joanna Hendrix, Jon Sapp, Alonzo Solarez, Mia Jurado and Lark Molina; and great grandchildren, Marley, Ryder, Paige and Ally.
The family would like to thank Buena Vista Hospice of Thousand Oaks for their extraordinary support, allowing Mava to spend her last days in comfort.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 14 at First Presbyterian Church, 2619 N. Berkeley Ave., Turlock.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to United Samaritans Foundation, 220 S. Broadway, Turlock, CA 95380, where Mava made sandwiches for the hungry and the homeless every Tuesday morning for many years. Donations may also be sent to the First Presbyterian Church.
