Melvin Douglas Walker, 63, of Tehachapi, died Nov. 21 at San Joaquin Community Hospital in Bakersfield. Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Dec. 2 at Whitehurst, Norton & Dias. Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 3 at Lakewood Memorial Park, 900 Santa Fe Ave., Hughson. Burial will be at Lakewood Memorial Park.
Melvin was born Feb. 13, 1946, in Turlock. He was a carpenter for 30 years. He was a member of the Dunkard Brethren Church of Modesto. He graduated from Turlock High School and he enjoyed woodworking.
He is survived by his son, Douglas Walker of Mansfield, Mo.; daughters, Michelle Griffith of El Dorado, Kansas and Annetta Long of Long Lane, Mo.; brothers, Eugene Walker of Ceres and Henry Walker of Waterford; and one granddaughter. He was preceded in death by brothers, James Walker and Oliver (Bob) Walker in 2006.
