Michael Defonce, Jr, a longtime resident of Modesto passed away suddenly Saturday, 

March 11th in Modesto, CA. He was 83.

Mike was born January 17, 1934 in White Plains, NY to Michael and Rose Defonce, Sr.  

He was educated in White Plains and at 18, he entered the Air Force and was stationed in Colorado. After his discharge, Michael returned to New York and continued his education.

He met his wife Theresa in Turlock and they married in 1982. They shared nearly 35 years of marriage. Mike enjoyed being active. He loved baseball as a player and spectator and played in the senior league for 20 years. He also loved the San Francisco Giants. Mike was very involved in the Senior Olympics and traveled to scenic locations as an Olympian. He received many medals and awards. 

Mike was involved in the community where he lived and was bookkeeper for many years for the local Chamber of Commerce. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. He left his imprint on the hearts of his family and friends. He will be dearly missed.

Mike is survived by his wife Theresa, a brother Robert Defonce of FL., daughters Vicki, Debbie, Terri and Cathy. Stepchildren: Chris Wolfley, Anna Chad, Cindy Decameri and Teresa Johnson. 15 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Burial with honors will be held, Friday, 3/24 at 10:30am at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery. A Memorial service will follow at 1pm at Allen Mortuary in Turlock.

Theresa will host family and friends at Allen Event Center following the service.
