Shirley “Miriam” Moren, surrounded by family, passed away peacefully at home on February 25, 2026 in Turlock, Ca at the age of 90.
Miriam is survived by her daughter, Denise Praklet (husband, David); her grandchildren, Thad Moren (Fe), Crystal Stapleton (Sean); and her great–grandchildren, Cerah Ellen, Jarod Berwyn, and Deric Gregory Moren; Cadence Lee and Colin Michael Stapleton. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Berwyn “Lee” Moren, and her sons, Douglas Lavere and Gregory Lee.
Miriam was born on September 24, 1935, in Linden, Iowa, to George and Ethel Hammond. Miriam met Lee Moren on a Greyhound bus, and the two were married on August 17, 1952, sharing 64 years of devoted marriage. In 1973, Lee and Miriam purchased farmland on the outskirts of Livingston, Ca and became “weekend farmers,” a passion that eventually grew into an almost 200 acre Blue Diamond almond growing family operation.
Miriam worked as a banker for Bank of America at the Gustine branch and was known for her steady dedication and warmth. Above all, she loved her family deeply and made time together feel special, including devoting herself to caring for her mother, Ethel, who lived to be 99 years and 8 months old, an act that reflected Miriam’s deep loyalty, patience, and compassion. Miriam especially enjoyed the holiday season, and the dishes she prepared for family meals were longed for well before and well after they were enjoyed.
Service details will be shared at a later date.
