Mitsuyo Shiba

Mitsuyo Shiba passed peacefully February 10 at Alexander Cohen Hospice House. She was born in San Francisco third of five children to Kimiyo and Sadata Handa. From 1942-1945 her family was relocated to Japanese internment camps in Topaz, Utah. 

Mitsuyo met Frank Kahoru Shiba in Salt Lake City, working in the same restaurant. They married and had six children, moving to Turlock in 1951. Mitzi went to work for Moore Business Forms  as a printing press tender in 1966 and retired in 1990. She was a charter member of Monte Vista Chapel.

Mitsuyo was predeceased by brothers Katsunori and Takuzo Handa; survived by brother Yutaka Handa, and sister Yoshiye Yasuda. Husband Frank passed in 2013.

Mitzi is survived by her son Allen/Sue Shiba; and daughters Beverly/EricVanderlinden; Carol Cordeiro; Diane/George Springer;

Eileen/Gerald Savelson; Florence/Jeff Colby.

Mitzi has 7 grandsons Todd Shiba/Hilary Eckberg, Kevin/Kira Cordeiro, Travis/Jenn Springer, Ryan Springer, Edwin Savelson, Zachary/Corissa Colby, Jacob Colby; 3 granddaughters Kendra/Chico Rodriguez, Shannon/Mark Konschak and Rose Savelson. Mitzi also has six great grandsons whom she adored: Kevin, Kiegan, Kolton Cordeiro, Daniel and Diego Rodriguez, and Brixton Konschak. Private family service.
