Nadine Townsend, 88, died peacefully on Thursday, January 2 after an extended stay at Brandel Manor in Turlock.  Nadine was born on November 15, 1925 in Hollister, California, to Karl and Anna (Milic) Kunich.   She graduated in 1943 from Monterey Union High School in Monterey, California where she was an honor student.  Nadine worked briefly for the postal service and met her future husband, Robert, at a USO dance.  Nadine and Robert corresponded during World War II, and married shortly after his discharge.   The couple moved to Turlock in 1967, where they raised their family and resided the remainder of their lives.  Nadine was a homemaker, taking care of her elderly mother and two daughters.  She enjoyed gardening, animals, and helping others in a variety of capacities.  Nadine is survived by daughters Suzanna Townsend (Michael Ganzberger) of Livermore, and Elizabeth (Brian) Cabral of San Jose, and grandchildren Quinn and Sydney Cabral.  Nadine was a loving daughter, wife, mother and grandmother.  At her request, no public services will be held.  Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38104, or at stjude.org.
