Nancy was born in Pierre SD to Frank and Grace Koll.   She was raised in Ft Dodge Iowa, were she met and married Vincent Johnson in 1942.  They had 2 children, Patti and Bruce.  Vincent died in 1952.  Through relatives she met Clarence Soderstrom, who she married and moved with the children to Turlock in 1956.   Clarence died in 19.  In 1973 she met Don Thompson, a neighbor of her elderly parents in Los Angeles.  Don regularly assisted them and his caring made a huge impression on her. They were married in 1975. They were able to travel both in the US and abroad while enjoying their new lives together.

They lived near Patti and her husband Dr. Jim Day and played a large role in the raising of their Grandchildren Kevin and Seana.

Sadly her son Bruce died in 1993.

Her favorite activities besides the family were bridge, which she played regularly with her friends up to 3 years ago, and watching sports.  She was an avid Giants fan as well as liking the Kings Basketball team.

When she became incapacitated 3 years ago, Don, now 102, cared for her at home, not wanting her in a nursing facility.  They were married in their late 50s and were able to enjoy 42 years together.

She is survived by Don, her daughter Patti and husband Jim, her grandchildren, Seana and Kevin, his wife Jane and her Great grandsons Calvin and Niels and Don’s son Bill all of whom miss her greatly.

Nancy lived a long and full life, filled with some sadness, much happiness, and a chance of making a big difference in the lives of her family and friends.

A Graveside service will be held Saturday, Dec. 10th at Turlock Memorial Park at 10am.
